Ruturaj Gaikwad and a few other players took time from their busy schedules to travel around Australia amidst a 3-match series against the Australia A team. The fans have shown their disappointment in the team after witnessing a terrible performance in the 1st game against the Aussies.

Captain Gaikwad's performance was below par, which has lowered his chances of getting picked up for the BGT series. His deputy, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is on the squad for the BGT series, didn't do much harm against the Australian bowling attack as he scored 7 and 12 runs in the game. He has a good chance of replacing Rohit Sharma on the team if he misses the first Test match in Perth.

India A's performance in the first innings was extremely bad, as they were all out for 107 runs. However, Sai Sudarshan and Devdutt Padikal saved the second innings for the team. Sudarshan scored a century, while Padikkal scored 88 runs. However, they couldn't avoid a defeat since Australia's batting and bowling were strong.

The young team still has two more games to play, and since the senior team's performance wasn't great in the series against New Zealand, BCCI might make some changes to the squad before they leave for Australia. This is the time for players to show their potential and win a spot in the upcoming series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad fails to impress selectors ahead of BGT 2024

Ruturaj Gaikwad had made decent runs in the domestic set-up before India's squad came out for the upcoming BGT series. Fans were quite disappointed with the squad and that Gaikwad wasn't even considered for the travel reserves.

However, his performance in the first game against Australia A was upsetting. The right-hand batter scored a duck in the 1st innings and five runs in the second innings. This was the time for him to prove his worth and potential for the team, but he didn't make the most out of the opportunity given to him.

Even though he has two more matches to score well, the team will still not consider him since they already have picked up Easwaran as their backup opener. Nevertheless, only a few centuries in Australia might change the fate of the 27-year-old in the future.
