The North Indian derby was set to take place at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow between Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 26th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match. This was the battle between wicketkeeper captains KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. The match started in DC’s favour as the spinners took charge of the Lucknow batters. However, the Super Giants still came scoring 53 in the last 5 overs to get to a decent total of 167-7 in the end, which has been tough to chase on a slow wicket in Lucknow.

The Capitals on the other hand might have lost the likes of David Warner early and Prithvi Shaw played a rash shot to waste a great start. However, it was the 3rd wicket partnership that got the Capitals back in the game and ensured a 6-wicket victory with 11 balls to spare. We will be taking a look at the top 5 best performances of the match. These were the performances that came at the most crucial stages in the game when their side needed it.

So, here are the top 5 performances of match 26 between the Lucknow SuperGiants and the Delhi Capitals:

5. Ravi Bishnoi: 2/25 in 4 overs

This was still a great spell from the talented leg spinner who made sure he got some wickets in the middle to keep his side in the hunt. Ravi Bishnoi got big wickets of Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw to give his team a chance. He was the only silver lining in the bowling attack which was leaking runs consistently. This might have not been enough for a win, but it was still effective and gave some great moments for the SuperGiants in what was one of their most disappointing home games.

4. Ayush Badoni: 55 from 35 deliveries

This was one of the best innings from the young batter during a crucial stage in the first innings. There was a time when even a score of 120 was looking unlikely. Ayush Badoni’s wonderful half-century made sure that his side got to a competitive total at the end. This innings included 5 fours and a six and he showed everyone that he can perform under pressure when his side is in trouble. This was a really important innings for the 24-year-old to finally announce himself this season.

3. Rishabh Pant: 41 from 24 deliveries

There was a need for a partnership in the middle and it was skipper Rishabh Pant who took the responsibility to make sure he stood with Jake Fraser McGurk in the middle. His 41 from 24 deliveries came at the right time when his team needed it. This was a real captain's knock from the Gabba hero which did not only show his powerful shots but also his ability to adapt to situations. Pant’s innings consisted of 4 fours and 2 sixes and was striking at over 170 as usual. This also makes him one of the highest run-getters in his team so far as well.

2. Jake Fraser-McGurk: 55 from 35 deliveries

This was a great start to the young Australian’s IPL career as he showed the same aggressive style of cricket which he had shown in the Big Bash League(BBL) as well. Jake Fraser-McGurk completely outplayed each Lucknow bowler in the game as he smashed 5 sixes and 2 fours in his maiden half-century in the league. This was the perfect start to his IPL season and the Capitals will be hoping for more great knocks from this swashbuckling batter from Victoria.

1. Kuldeep Yadav: 3/20 in 4 overs

The hero of the match is no doubt the talented left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. This was an absolutely beautiful spell that put the Lucknow batters in a spot of bother. Kuldeep was at his complete best using his variations and turning the ball square. His wicket of Nicholas Pooran might have been one of the balls of the season as well. This showed the guile and experience of the world-class spinner with his spell of 3/20 at an economy of just 5 an over. This also ensured that Kuldeep was named the player of the match in this current encounter.
