LPL 2024 Auction: Matheesha Pathirana becomes most expensive player in the history of Lanka Premier League

Earlier in the Indian Premier League 2024, Pathirana got a chance to appear in 12 matches and he scalped 19 wickets with an economy rate of 8.01.

In recent news, the young Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana has attracted the headlines for amazing news; during the LPL 2024 auction, the 21-year-old recently became the most expensive player in the history of the Lanka Premier League. Pathirana has been sold to Colombo Strikers for a huge price of USD 120,000 (INR 99,95,940).

The star pacer was recently in action with the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He was ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury after his appearances in the 6 innings of the 6 matches. He impressed everyone with his brilliant bowling in IPL 2024 as he scalped 13 wickets in 6 innings with an economy rate of 7.18, including a four-wicket haul.

Earlier in the Indian Premier League 2024, Pathirana got a chance to appear in 12 matches and he scalped 19 wickets with an economy rate of 8.01 and his best performance of 3/15. He was also a part of CSK’s IPL 2024 Champion squad.

Impressive record in a short but illustrious career

Besides his excellence in franchise cricket, the Kandy pacer has also impressed with his performances in international cricket. He has scalped 17 wickets in 12 innings of the 12 ODIs, including the best performance of 4 wickets at the cost of 32 runs in a match.

Besides that, he has also featured in 6 T20Is, in the 6 innings of these matches, he has scalped 11 wickets, including one four-wicket haul with the best performance of 4 wickets at the cost of 24 runs in a T20I match.

Now, he will be seen in action in the Lanka Premier League 2024 for Colombo Strikers; before that, he will play for his national side Sri Lanka in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, in the USA and West Indies.
