LSG skipper KL Rahul, whose team is currently in the fifth spot with three wins and three losses in the IPL 2024, has shared insights about his dream debut with the Virat Kohli-led RCB team back in the IPL 2013. Notably, the stylish batter was selected for RCB in 2013 after his magnificent Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, which made him get a place in his RCB under Virat Kohli's captaincy.

However, the right-handed batter revealed that Virat Kohli was the one who had approached him along with coach Ray Jennings and other support staff members. KL Rahul further revealed that former RCB skipper Virat Kohli didn't give him the choice to join his franchise but ordered him strictly to sign the franchise contract in 2013 after a remarkable domestic career.

"Virat was there (ITC Gardenia), coach Ray Jennings and other support staff were also there and Virat only said, 'Would you want to sign this contract and play for RCB?' I was like, 'Are you kidding? It was always my dream.' And then he said 'I'm just kidding. It's not an option, just sign this contract.' I signed and Virat said 'It's gonna be a crazy ride. You're going to enjoy a lot in the next couple of months," KL Rahul said.

'Those two months in the IPL I gained so much knowledge and experience'

KL Rahul further shared his views on the crucial things that he has learned from the team. The Karnataka-born cricketer shares that his IPL experience has given him much knowledge as well as great experience as compared to the Ranji Trophy and makes him an exceptional cricketer, which has enabled him to get an India cap after a successful career under Virat Kohli's leadership.

"The things that I learned (at RCB) in those two months, I mean the amount of time it would have taken me to be the player by playing just Ranji Trophy would have probably taken it 7-8 seasons. Those two months in the IPL I gained so much knowledge and experience and everything was fast-forwarded," he added further.
