The 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was dramatic as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs. In the epic clash, KKR scored 235 runs courtesy of Sunil Narine's 81 runs off 39 balls. LSG's performance was quite disappointing as they failed in all the departments of the game in their own backyard.

After winning the toss, LSG invited the KKR team to bat first. The visitors took full advantage of the situation and scored 235 runs in the first innings. Phil Salt and Narine gave a good start to the innings, and then the other batters took over. It was a collective effort from the entire team which helped them in reaching a high score. The only bowler who stood out in today's game for LSG was Naveen-ul-Haq, who claimed three wickets.

Even though LSG started their innings on a good note, they lost wickets at regular intervals, which shattered their batting lineup, and ended up losing the match by a huge margin. Except for Marcus Stoinis, no other batter touched the 30-run mark. However, for KKR, Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana claimed three wickets each.

'I think you have to pick your strengths...' - Star batter Sunil Narine on his game

Sunil Narine is in great form and is trying to utilize his batting skills really well. He played brilliantly in today's match scoring 81 runs off just 39 balls. Currently, Narine is playing better than some pure batters in the tournament. Moreover, KKR is leading the points table because of his solid starts.

"The most important thing is starting well and it's good to have the backing of the support staff. I think you have to pick your strengths and pick your spots, sometimes it works out. It's going very well, Varun is picking up wickets, it's making my job easier to keep things tight," said Sunil Narine at the post-match presentation.
