India and England will play each other in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which is the first instalment of a new chapter in the rivalry between the two sides. It is a key series for both sides as the fourth cycle of the World Test Championship begins. The last time India toured England the series ended 2-2 with the fifth and final game being rescheduled to Edgbaston in 2022.
Ben Stokes and his team beat Zimbabwe in the one-off Test match and won it with ease. India, on the other hand, are coming into the series with Shubman Gill set to lead the side after replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain. Team India have also lost the services of their inspirational opener Rohit Sharma and veteran batter Virat Kohli. The duo retired from the Test format inside one week.
The upcoming five-match series will be key for many Indian players who will be keen to help the side in the transition phase. The likes of Karun Nair, Sai Sudharsan, and Abhimanyu Easwaran will be looking to make it to the playing XI. With the ball, the focus will be on Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja to come up with the goods.
Here are the milestones Indian cricketers can achieve in the coming series.
