Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was not invited to present the historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy to the winners of the series. The India vs. Australia Test series, which has been named in honour of the legendary duo of Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border, was won by Pat Cummins and his men after a gruelling five-match Test series. The post-match presentation ceremony saw former Aussie star Allan Border get up on the stage and hand the trophy to the hosts.
An upset Indian legendary cricketer let his thoughts express after the conclusion of the series, stating that he was not even called to present the trophy because he was Indian. The 75-year-old legend further affirmed that it would have been nice to hand over the trophy alongside his great friend Allan Border.
However, the official later stated that Sunil Gavaskar was being told if Australia wins the trophy then Allan Border will be presenting it.

Aussie legend Border himself handed the trophy to Pat Cummins and his team
Notably, the home team reclaimed the historic series after a decade, grabbing a six-wicket win in the final match at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground. Despite being present at the iconic Sydney Cricket Stadium during the final presentation, the Indian legend was notably left out of the ceremony. Aussie legend Border himself handed the trophy to Pat Cummins and his team, but Gavaskar's absence raised big questions, especially given his crucial role in the creation of the series and trophy.
“I certainly would have loved to have been there for the presentation. After all, it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and it is about Australia and India. I mean, I am here on the ground. To me, it should not matter that Australia won when it comes to the presentation. They played better cricket, so they won. That’s fine. Just because I am an Indian (I did not present the trophy). I would have been happy to present the trophy with my good friend Allan Border,” Gavaskar was quoted by Code Sports.
