Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, backed the young batter Sam Konstas amid controversies related to Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. The 19-year-old batter made his debut in the fourth Test match and had a fight with Kohli in the very first innings of his career.

He went on to play some rash shots and targeted Bumrah throughout. Cummins spoke about the confidence Konstas carried with him during the game and also said that some people have issues with this, and that is why all this chaos happened.

"I've been really impressed with the way he's gone about it. I think people mistake a bit of confidence with bullying and abuse. You're allowed to walk around with your shoulders puffed back and playing a few cricket shots. Some people take offence to that and kind of want to put him back in his place. For us, we always say to players, Bring yourself every day, be yourself, and go about how you think represents yourself the best, how you want to play. I think he's been really good this series and stood up for himself when he's needed to," said Pat Cummins at the presser.

Konstas scored 60 runs in his debut innings but failed to shine in the rest of the three innings. However, the player has a different attitude in himself when it comes to going after the best bowlers on the team. If he channels his energy really well, he can be the next big thing for Australia.

Australia qualify for WTC 2025 finals

The mighty Australian team have finally qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals and will play alongside South Africa at the Lord's. After winning the BGT series, Australia kicked out India and Sri Lanka from the race. This is the first time India won't play in the WTC finals. Moreover, South Africa will be looking forward to playing their first WTC finals, but it won't be easy for them. Australia have better knowledge of the conditions in England, which will be beneficial for them. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting game of cricket to watch since two deserving teams will be playing the finals.
