The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released applications for the head coach's position since Rahul Dravid's tenure is getting over in June. Surprisingly, the Board has received more than 3000 applications but some of them are under fake names including former cricketers and politicians. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni are some of the names used in the application form.

The deadline for the same was May 27 and post that the applications are closed. As per the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, the Board is open to hiring coaches from all over the world who are of the Indian grassroots level players and the domestic tournaments. It was on May 13 when the applications were rolled out using Google Forms. However, now that the deadline is over, the Board has to pick up coaches and start the rest of the process.

As per reports, there were multiple coaches who were under BCCI's radar for the position. However, the only issue was the time frame of three years and no contact with IPL. According to some reports, BCCI had approached Australian coaches Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting but both of them turned down the offer. However, Jay Shah declined all the claims and said they haven't reached out to anyone yet.

India reaches the US before the warmup match

Some members of the Indian Cricket Team (ICT) have reached New York to take part in the upcoming ICC event. Players including Rohit Sharma, Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and many more have travelled to the US before the warm-up game. The rest of the players will be leaving soon as they are stuck because of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Virat Kohli didn't travel with the team as he has some travel issues and will not be taking part in the only warm-up game against Bangladesh. Kohli will directly play in the match against Ireland on June 5 at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
