He took two brilliant catches, alongside bowling some amazing spells; however, he lost a chance to scalp his maiden Test wicket as the catch was dropped.

“It was good to have my family here and to get the cap from Junior (Mark Waugh). Got some catches and that settled the nerves,” said Webster on his debut for Australia.

Coming back to the Aussie star’s comments on star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, he felt that it would be quite tough to face Bumrah at the SCG track on the day of the ongoing fifth and the last Test.

“Ah, we were at the change-room, and we saw him (Konstas) hit Bumrah over mid-wicket for four. It is no longer a surprise and we were like okay ‘so he is up and away’. The youngsters these days! He loves to have a chat,” he said.

“Phew, Jasprit (Bumrah) is phenomenal. It's going to be tough tomorrow,” the 31-year-old added later in a praising tone for the Indian star.

Speaking of the action of the game on the first day of the Sydney Test, the tourists fielded a playing XI without their regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Bumrah as a stand-in skipper. India won the toss and decided to bat first before getting bundled at the score of just 185 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant ended up as the leading run-scorer with 40 runs followed by Ravindra Jadeja’s 26 runs.

Scott Boland claimed a brilliant four-wicket haul for his side in the first innings, picking 4 wickets at just 31 runs in 20 overs, including eight maiden overs. Besides him, skipper Pat Cummins and veteran pacer Mitchell Starc also claimed 3 and 2 wickets, respectively, alongside a wicket bagged by Nathan Lyon.

In response to India’s 185, Australia had lost their 1 wicket for 9 runs at the end of first day’s game.
