The 18-year-old pace sensation Kwena Maphaka made his international debut for South Africa in the series against West Indies, which was a huge thing for the team. He is a terrific young bowler with brilliant control over his pace, line, and length. He got his maiden call-up from the South African team because of his consistent performance in the U-19 World Cup 2024. Moreover, he received his cap from Lungi Ngidi.

Maphaka became the youngest player ever to represent South Africa in international cricket and also took one wicket in three matches. Being a young player, he has several commitments towards his studies and while conversing with iol.com.za, he revealed how he's been holding up to the opportunity.

"When I go home, it’s into prelims again. I have been studying on tour, unfortunately. It’s going to be a little bit of studying and a little bit of work. After prelims, it’s the finals and then done with school," said Kwena Maphaka. He's a hard-working player who has been managing work and studies well, showing his passion for the game. The best part about the young talent is his focus on his studies even after representing his country.

To be the youngest to do it is the cherry on top of the cake: Kwena Maphaka

South Africa's youngest player, Kwena Maphaka, is elated on his new role in the senior team. Coming straight from the U-19 team and playing for the Proteas senior team is a huge achievement for the youngster who is currently juggling between studies and passion. However, the player agreed that he loves to play for the country and is hoping to do well in the upcoming days.

"To be the youngest to do it is the cherry on top of the cake. From a very young age people said that I have a lot of talent. Cricket is something that I really wanted to pursue, probably from the age of six, seven years old I wanted to be a Proteas player," added Kwena Maphaka.
