MI vs CSK Today Match Prediction: In what is set to be the biggest match of the IPL 2025 season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at theWankhede Stadium on Sunday. Both sides have had their own issues this campaign, which has seen them flounder in the bottom half of the table. Over the years, both MI and CSK have contended for the top spot, but this return encounter has a lot more at stake.

Advertisment

Hardik Pandya and his Mumbai Indians side have won their last two games against difficult opposition. MI first beat Delhi Capitals away from home by 12 runs and then beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four wickets at home. Jasprit Bumrah’s return to form will augur well for MI, as well as Will Jacks’ all-round show. Rohit Sharma, who scored a ton in the same fixture last season, has to fire with the bat if MI has to win the game and continue their progress.

Chennai Super Kings are bottom of the table so far this campaign and MI fans know they cannot take their arch rivals lightly. CSK have beaten MI in their last five meetings, which also includes the win in their season-opening game at home. MS Dhoni’s return as the skipper has already seen the team win at Lucknow as the veteran star showed his finishing skills. Shivam Dube, who is a local lad, will also have a point to prove with the bat. Matheesha Pathirana and Noor Ahmad will be the bowlers for CSK in Mumbai on Sunday, along with Ravindra Jadeja, who has found his form with the ball once more.

Who will score Most runs today?

New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra could be the leading run-getter in the IPL 2025 game between MI vs CSK on Sunday. The left-handed batter who suffered a slump with the bat rebounded with a 22-ball 37 in the last game versus Lucknow Super Giants. Rachin Ravindra scored a match-winning fifty against MI in the last fixture between these two sides earlier in the season.

Most wickets

Trent Boult hasn’t been at his best with the ball so far this season, and the veteran seamer will be hoping for a change in fortunes. If MI has to make it to the playoffs this season, then Boult has to come good with the ball. The left-arm seamer has shown glimpses of his amazing bowling, but MI fans will want Boult to bring out his best against CSK on Sunday. Boult has picked 13 wickets against CSK, and his mastery with the new ball could very well dictate the course of the game.

Player of the match (POTM) prediction

Mumbai Indians are the second-favourite opponents for Shivam Dube after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The left-handed batter has scored 228 runs vs MI in 11 matches so far in his IPL career. Dube has played all his cricket at the Wankhede Stadium and knows the stadium and the conditions really well. The 31-year-old is also more than capable of batting against seam and very dangerous against spin. This makes Shivam Dube a prime candidate to be named as the player of the match in the MI vs CSK encounter.

MI vs CSK Match prediction

Chennai Super Kings hold the edge over Mumbai Indians with five successive wins in the head-to-head encounters. The Men in Yellow will start as slight favourites and could very well make it six wins in a row on Sunday. This season, MI’s bowling has struggled a bit, but CSK have found the right mix.

Khaleel Ahmed has done well with the new ball, while former MI player Anshul Kamboj is coming into his own. The onus will be on Noor Ahmad, who picked a four-wicket haul against MI to start the season. Matheesha Pathirana picked his IPL best of 4/28 at the same venue last year. MS Dhoni’s return as skipper has also seen Jadeja regain his confidence with the ball.
