Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their first home game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Rajat Patidar and his men beat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to win their sixth game of the season. At one stage, it looked like Dhruv Jurel had won the game for RR after Bhuvneshwar Kumar had conceded 22 runs in the 18th over of the game. Josh Hazlewood then changed the game with his final over of the game to put RCB on the cusp of a huge win.

With 18 needed from 12 balls, RR got two runs off the first two balls of the 19th over to make it 16 needed from 10 balls. In the third ball of the over, Jitesh Sharma went up for an appeal after Dhruv Jurel had seemingly edged the ball. The on-field umpire didn’t budge, and RCB decided to review the call.

Once the replays came on the screen, it was seen that Jurel had a huge edge to give RCB the opening they needed. In the very next ball, Jofra Archer was out for a golden duck as he tried to slog Hazlewood and only offered Rajat Patidar a simple catch. Hazlewood ended the over with two wickets and conceded just a single run as RR now needed 17 off the last six balls of the game.

Yash Dayal struck with the first ball of the final over as he had Shubham Dubey caught by Phil Salt for 12 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga was then run out while trying to go back for an impossible second run and was out for just a single. The left-arm pacer then closed out the game by conceding three runs from three balls to help RCB win the game by 11 runs.

Rajasthan Royals on the cusp of early exit

Needing 206 runs to win, RR began well as they had posted 72 runs from the first six overs for the loss of two wickets. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out for 16 when he was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the fifth over. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 49 off 19 and became Josh Hazlewood’s first wicket of the day.

Dhruv Jurel then batted well to score 47 off 34 balls with three fours and three sixes to keep RR in the hunt. This loss now means that RR now have four points from nine games and will have to win the rest of their five games with a huge margin and hope other results go their way. The best bowler for RCB was Josh Hazlewood, who picked 4/33 from his four overs.
