IPL 2025: GT vs PBKS Match Prediction, Match 5 – Winner, Most Runs, Most Wickets & Player of the Match

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the fifth match of the Indian Premier League 2025 season. Hosts Gujarat Titans will welcome Punjab Kings in what will be a cracking contest between two sides with power-packed players. So far, the two sides have met each other on five occasions with Gujarat winning thrice and Punjab winning twice. 

Shreyas Iyer who was purchased for INR 26.75 Crores by PBKS will be leading the side. The 30-year-old will once again link up with Ricky Ponting having worked with the former Aussie skipper during his time with Delhi Capitals. Iyer has already won the IPL title last year when he captained Kolkata Knight Riders. 

Gujarat Titans will see Shubman Gill at the helm of affairs for the second season in succession. The 25-year-old didn’t have a great start to life as captain in the IPL. Gill, though has gained captaincy experience as he led India to a series win over Zimbabwe last year. The Titans have added potential match winners to their side who can change the course of the game with the bat and ball in the form of Jos Buttler and Mohammed Siraj in the ranks.

Most runs

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has played 13 games against Punjab Kings and scored 521 runs so far. The 25-year-old has an average of 65 with a strike rate of 143 and has hit six half-centuries so far. Titans’ skipper will be keen to get his season off and running with a huge knock against Punjab on Monday. Considering his record in Ahmedabad, it won’t be a surprise if Shubman Gill emerges as the top run-scorer of the game. 

Most wickets 

Rashid Khan has so far played 15 matches against Punjab Kings and picked 24 wickets with the ball. Afghanistan’s star bowler has a strike rate of 15 and an economy rate of 5.95 runs per over against PBKS. The 26-year-old has picked six wickets in the last five matches against Punjab which includes his figures of 3/22 at the Brabourne Stadium in 2022. 

Player of the match 

On current form, Shreyas Iyer has been one of the best batters for India in recent times. The 30-year-old was the leading scorer for the Men in Blue when they won the Champions Trophy a few weeks ago. Shreyas Iyer has been a steady batter in the IPL and one can expect him to continue his great run of form with the bat when he plays Gujarat on Tuesday. So far Iyer has played 116 games in the IPL scoring 3127 runs with an average of 32 and a strike rate of 127. Iyer can prove to be a huge stumbling block for GT bowlers during the course of the game. 

Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings Match winner prediction 

As far as the likely winners are concerned, hosts Gujarat Titans hold the sway. One of the major factors is the fact that the Titans hold a great record at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Secondly, Gujarat also have match winners like Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and of course, Shubman Gill himself who has a terrific IPL record.
