Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their third successive loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on Saturday. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his side lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by 25 runs at home. DC achieved their first win in Chepauk since 2010 as massive worries emerge about CSK’s form. It is to be noted that CSK had lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home for the first time since 2008.

Needing 184 runs to win, CSK lost Rachin Ravindra early for three runs as Mukesh Kumar took an easy return catch. Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for five runs as Fraser-McGurk took an easy catch. Vipraj Nigam then struck when he got the wicket of Devon Conway for 13, caught by skipper Axar Patel.

Vijay Shankar was the top scorer with 69 not out, as his knock came off 54 balls with five boundaries and a six. MS Dhoni entertained the crowd with a few lusty blows as he stayed not out on 30 off just 26 balls. The best bowler for DC was Vipraj Nigam, who got 1/27 from his four overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad raises concerns after latest loss

It has been a huge slide for CSK with three losses from four games. Their only win came against Mumbai Indians in the first game of the season. Since then, CSK have lost to Rajasthan Royals and RCB and now this is the latest reversal for the former IPL winners.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was asked his views on the game, to which he said, “ Since the last few games, it's not going our way. We are trying to improve, trying our best but not going our way. Definitely lost too many wickets.” Gaikwad also expressed concerns over the scoring as well as bowling during the powerplay overs.

The 28-year-old said, “It's a major concern even in the bowling department. We are giving away 15-20 runs extra or losing too many wickets. We are trying but it's just not happening. Just think that we are slightly overconcerned or tentative whoever is bowling in powerplay. And with the bat, obviously you don't want to lose an extra wicket but it's just about being positive. I think it's about being on the back foot and not being on the toes. Everyone needs to come together to make things happen. We need to make things happen.”
