Match number 13 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by eight wickets. The stars with the bat for the visiting side were Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer, and Nehal Wadhera. One of the best moments of the game was witnessed during the final ball of the 14th over with Wadhera batting against Ravi Bishnoi.
LSG spinner bowled a googly that Wadhera was able to read and deposit the ball over the long-on fence for a six. One ball boy, positioned near the boundary, took an easy catch and nonchalantly threw the ball back into the field of play. This effort wasn’t missed by former Aussie legend and current PBKS coach Ricky Ponting.

While the rest of PBKS dugout were celebrating the six, Ponting could be seen looking in the direction of the ball boy. The 50-year-old could be seen clapping for the youngster and giving his encouragement. The former Aussie skipper also brought it to the attention of Marcus Stoinis, who was sitting beside him. Once the replays were shown on the board, the youngster had a smile on his face and waved to the crowd.
'Didn’t know I was playing’ – Nehal Wadhera revals after his cameo knock
Punjab Kings needed just 16.2 overs to beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets. This was the second successive win of the campaign for Shreyas Iyer and his side. Nehal Wadhera, who made his IPL debut for the Punjab Kings, scored 43 not out from just 25 balls. The left-handed batter made sure that he kept the scoreboard ticking and helped his skipper finish the job.
Wadhera during his chat with the host broadcasters, was asked to give his views on his knock. The left-handed batter said, “I did not feel much nerves, but I did not even know I was playing today. I just brought one kit. I later got to know I was playing. When I went in to bat, I knew I needed to play my shots."
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer complimented his team on the win and said, “This is the start we required. Boys actually played their roles well; they contributed to the best of their ability, and whatever we planned, they executed it to the fullest. To be honest, there is no right combination. The camaraderie and synergy has to click at the right time.”
