RCB registered the fastest-ever 200+ run-chase in the history of the Indian Premier League with a 9-wicket win over GT in the 45th game of the ongoing IPL 2024. Both teams played this match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28, 2024. The visiting skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first.

Batting first, GT posted a total of 200 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The star in-form number 3 batter Sai Sudharsan played a crucial knock of 84 runs off just 49 balls, with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Besides him, number 4 batter M Shahrukh Khan also scored 58 runs off just 30 balls, with 3 fours and 5 sixes. Swapnil Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Glenn Maxwell scalped 1 wicket each for RCB in the first innings.

Virat Kohli and Will Jacks led RCB's blistering run-chase

While chasing the target, the RCB batted brilliantly, especially the former skipper Virat Kohli and the young number 3 batter Will Jacks. The opening pair of current skipper Faf du Plessis and former skipper Virat Kohli added 40 runs for the first wicket for RCB.

Following the dismissal of Faf du Plessis at the individual score of 24 runs, Virat Kohli and Will Jacks stitched a match-winning and outstanding unbeaten 166-run partnership for the second wicket to win the game for RCB.

Eventually, RCB scored 206 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket and won the match by a massive margin of 9 wickets to register their third win in the 10th match of the tournament. Virat Kohli scored 70 runs off just 44 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes, alongside Will Jacks’ swashbuckling 100 runs off just 41 balls, with 5 fours and 10 massive sixes. Will Jacks win the ‘Player of the Match award for his sensational century in RCB’s favour.
