Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are set to take on each other in the high-octane 18th clash of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. However, trouble has clouded this big game between SRH and CSK just a couple of hours ahead of the start of the match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The reports have learned that the Hyderabad Cricket Association failed to complete the payment obligations of the electricity bill to the electricity department; due to which, the power supply has been cut off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
A media report understands that the Hyderabad Cricket Association owes an electricity bill of up to INR 1.6 crores, which is still payable to the electricity department. The failed outstanding amount is said to be remaining due for the last 7 years. The department had also issued a notice to the association but the latter didn’t entertain it; eventually, the power supply to the stadium was disconnected by the department.
“Electricity has been cut off at the Hyderabad Cricket Stadium ahead of the IPL Match. The HCA hasn’t paid a bill of 1. 6 crores to DISCOM for 7 years. Earlier they approached the court asking them to consider their plea. The first notice was served in February 2024. There wasn’t any response from HCA, despite continuous follow-ups. The department has already disconnected the power supply,” reads a report published in Newsmeter regarding the same development.
Fans waiting for a high-voltage thriller between SRH and CSK
Speaking of the upcoming match between the hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Chennai Super Kings, the fans are expecting another thriller on Friday night just like the last mammoth-scoring game between SRH and MI, which saw 523 runs in 40 overs with a massive run-rate of 13.075.
However, SRH have not been in consistent form in the ongoing IPL 2024 as they have won only one out of the three matches they have played so far; on the other hand, CSK have won 2 matches in the 3 matches they have played so far in the tournament, including one defeat.
