As the Indian Premier League 2024 season moved into the 37th game, it was a huge game for Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. Both teams had come into the game on the back of a loss and Sam Curran decided to bat first after winning the toss.

Prabhsimran Singh top scored with 35 runs while Harpreet Brar (29) and Sam Curran (20) helped the home team score 140. In reply, Wriddhiman Saha was out early before skipper Shubman Gill dropped anchor before falling 35.

On a pitch which turned difficult to bat, young Prabhsimran Singh didn’t hold back as he went after the Titans bowlers early on. The right-handed batter hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his knock before he was dismissed by Mohit Sharma. It was crucial considering the way the pitch behaved towards the second half of the innings.

4. Noor Ahmed – 2/20 from four overs

Gujarat Titans were fielding three Afghan players on Sunday and young Noor Ahmad was the most effective out of the trio. The left-arm wrist spinner bowled four overs and gave away 20 runs and also picked up two crucial wickets. The youngster dismissed Rilee Rossouw and Liam Livingstone to turn the tide in the favor of the visiting side.

3. Shubman Gill – 35 runs off 29 balls

Needing 143 runs to win, the Gujarat Titans needed a good start on a tricky surface. Shubman Gill gave his team a good start with 35 runs off 29 balls in what is his home ground in domestic cricket. The right-handed batter hit five crisp boundaries as he didn’t feel troubled at all. Liam Livingstone got the wicket of Gill when the GT skipper went to clear the ropes and was caught by Kagiso Rabada.

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore was the best bowler by a country mile as he picked his best-ever figures in IPL cricket. The lad from Tamil Nadu began by dismissing Jitesh Sharma for 13. This was followed by the wickets of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma before finally getting rid of Harpreet Brar for 29.

Punjab Kings were yet again done in by Rahul Tewatia and his maverick batting. The left-handed batter was not out on 36 runs from 18 balls with 7 hits to the fence. Just when the going got tough for the visitors, Tewatia kept his cool and helped his team win the game.
