The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has started and all the teams have started on a great note except for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). While has won at least one game, MI hasn't won a single match yet. However, like always RCB is facing issues with the performance even though the team is star-packed. Most of the players have failed to perform in the last four games which has led to the team's failure altogether. Soon enough they will have to realise the tournament's needs or else will be left behind like every other season. As they have a match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur, they should look to win the match to stay in the race.
Hence, let's check out the three things that RCB needs to do right to win the match against RR.
1. Overseas batters need to step up
Even after having fabulous overseas players, the team is dependent on young inexperienced Indian batters. RCB has players like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Alzzari Joseph, and many more who are yet to fire in the tournament. If the overseas players step up and take the lead in the batting department, then the team's confidence will increase and will be beneficial in the upcoming matches.
2. Make use of powerplay effectively
If we look at teams like CSK, KKR and SRH, one plus point they have is scoring in the powerplays. A good start to the innings is very important as there are only two players outside the thirty yards and it gives the batters a chance to play shots freely. Hence, the RCB top-order batters should look to make good use of the powerplay to get to a good total.
3. Spin department needs to step up
The tracks of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur are helpful for bowlers as the ground is huge. While the pace department of RCB is doing fine, the spin department is lagging. In today's game, the spinners have to step up and bowl well to stop the RR team from scoring more as it's their home ground and they are unbeaten in the tournament so far.
