The thrilling matches in T20I cricket continue as India won the last match against Sri Lanka in the Super Over. It could have been easy for the Lankan Lions as they needed just 9 runs off 12 balls, but the dramatic turn happened when Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav came in to bowl in the last two overs, taking two wickets each. That was the point which changed the match.

Super Overs have always favored India, and they have had a good record against most of the teams. The joy of watching India play a Super Over and win it stays with the fans forever. India's bowl-out against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2007 remains rent-free in the minds of the Indians. Similarly, there are other matches as well where the Indian team has shown their potential.

Let's discuss India's Super Over history in T20Is:

1. Won vs New Zealand, 2020

NZ vs IND

In 2020, India went to New Zealand to play a 5-match T20I series, and in the 3rd game, they got to play their maiden Super Over. Since both teams registered the same score of 179 runs, the game went on to the Super Over. New Zealand scored 17 runs against speedster Jasprit Bumrah, but Rohit Sharma's brilliant form saved the team as he hit two back-to-back sixes in the last two balls off Tim Southee. Hence, India won their first Super Over game ever.

2. Won vs New Zealand, 2020

NZ vs IND2

The Super Over happened in the 4th game of the same series as the hosts failed to chase the target of 165 runs and equalled it with the Men in Blue. The match went on to the Super Over, where the Kiwis scored 12 runs against the same Jasprit Bumrah, only this time the speedster managed to keep them to a low score. KL Rahul played a confident knock by hitting a six on the first ball and a four on the second. With this, India registered their consecutive wins in the Super Over.

3. Won vs Afghanistan, 2024

IND vs AFG

The best game happened against Afghanistan in Bengaluru, where two Super Overs were played in the same game. Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh's standout partnership of 190 runs helped India score 212 runs. But with fearless batting by Mohammed Nabi and Gulbadin Naib, Afghanistan levelled the score. Then the game went on to the Super Over, where Afghanistan first scored 16 runs, and India levelled the score. India scored 12 runs this time, and Ravi Bishnoi's assignment was to restrict the visitors. The bowler successfully picked up two wickets, ending the match in India's favour.

4. Won vs Sri Lanka, 2024

SL vs IND

India's third T20I game against Sri Lanka led to a Super Over as the hosts couldn't chase nine runs off the last two overs and equalled the score of 137 runs. Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav's last two overs went for only eight runs and the match headed towards a Super Over. However, this game wasn't as exciting as it was anticipated since Sri Lanka could score only two runs in six balls, including one extra. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav finished the game in the first ball by hitting a boundary.
