Dinesh Karthik, India's star keeper-batter, has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. On the last day of RCB's IPL 2024 journey, Karthik announced his retirement from the IPL tournament. Today, on June 1, through his social media account, he officially retired from cricket. It was a dream retirement for Karthik as he received a grand farewell from the fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

On his Instagram post, DK wrote, "My deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to all the fans who have made this feeling possible. Having given it plenty of thought for some time now, I have decided to move on from playing representative cricket. I officially announce my retirement and put my playing days behind me as I square up for the new challenges that lie ahead."

DK played his last match in the IPL 2024 against the Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator, where RCB lost the game and was knocked out of the tournament. While his performance wasn't great during the IPL campaign, there were a few matches where he became RCB's knight in shining armour and won matches for his team.

'I think I am physically very much prepared to play for another three years' - Dinesh Karthik opens up about his retirement

Dinesh Karthik opened up about his retirement and said that he was fit enough to play for three more years. However, since cricket, or any sport in general, requires a lot of mental fitness as well, Karthik decided to get past the game and focus on his new life, which awaits him.

"I think I am physically very much prepared to play for another three years. Especially with the Impact Player rule, it becomes that much easier. So in terms of playing the sport, easily I think I could've pushed for another cycle. I don't have too many issues in my life," said Dinesh Karthik.
