India's encounter with England in the first T20I game is scheduled for today, January 22, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. England have travelled to play a white-ball series, including five T20Is and three ODIS. Just before the start of the Champions Trophy, this series will be important for both teams as they will get to know what combination would be better for them. The two boards revealed the squad for the upcoming series a few days ago. Many changes were made to the Indian team, such as resting Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant.

Advertisment

The best news for Indian fans is the return of pacer Mohammed Shami to the squad. He was phenomenal in the ODI WC in 2023. However, he hasn't played for India since then due to an ankle injury. Now, he has recovered and is fully fit and will lead India's pace attack with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana by his side.

Weather Report

The weather report of Kolkata suggests that there are no signs of rain, and the viewers can expect a good match in the evening. Eden Gardens is always a good place to play cricket, and visitors will surely enjoy the atmosphere there. The temperature will remain at 28°C during the day, but during the night time, it will drop down to 16 °C. There won't be any precipitation, but the winds will keep blowing.

Pitch Report

The Eden Gardens, Kolkata pitch is a flat track suitable for the batters. In a high-intensity T20I game, where the audience has come to watch cricket, the batters will wreak havoc on the bowlers throughout the innings. As far as the toss is concerned, any captain who wins the toss would like to bowl first because, as the new ball wears out, there is nothing left for the bowlers.
