In a recent piece of news, the Indian authorities have banned former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi’s YouTube channel in India. The decision from Indian authorities has come amidst a row of controversial remarks from the former cricketer about India and the Indian army. Earlier in the same line of events, India had also banned some major Pakistan-based YouTube channels, including major media outlets and individuals, which included the former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel.
Shahid Afridi has been in the headlines since he came up with a controversial statement following the tragic ‘terror attack’ in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which killed 26 innocent civilians. Meanwhile, a lot of provocative statements have been seen coming from both sides of the border.

“Patakha phat jaata hai wahaan par, Pakistan ne kiya (Even if a firecracker bursts there, they will blame it on Pakistan),” said Afridi while making a controversial statement on Samaa TV.
“Tum logon ki 8 lakh ki fauj hai Kashmir mein aur yeh ho gaya. Iska matlab nalayak ho, nikamme ho na tum log ki security de nahin sakte logon ko (You have an 8,00,000-strong army in Kashmir and this still happened. It means you are inefficient and useless if you couldn’t provide security to the people),” he added later.
These statements from Afridi sparked a big controversy in India, and notable Indian politicians and former cricketers criticised Afridi for these remarks.
“Kargil mein bhi haraya tha, already itna gire hue ho aur kitna giroge, bewajah comments pass karne se acha hai apne desh ki taraqqi mai dimag lagao Shahid Afridi, Humein hamari Indian Army par bohot garv hai. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!” wrote former India batter Shikhar Dhawan in his X-post while responding to Shahid Afridi’s statement on the Indian army.
Responding to Shikhar Dhawan’s brutal reply, Shahid Afridi also attempted to make a sarcastic comment, which failed miserably and drew a lot of trolling from the cricket fans.
“Chouro jeet haar ko, aao tumhey chae pilata hun Shikhar,” wrote Afridi while quoting Shikhar Dhawan’s X post.
