India and Bangladesh all set to play host to next two editions of Men’s Asia Cup tournament

The next two Men's Asia Cup is set to be hosted by India and Bangladesh according to reports carried in the media which came out on Monday afternoon.

As per reports doing the rounds, India has won the right to host the Asia Cup in 2025. The tournament will be played in the T20 format keeping in lieu with the decision to alternate the event in the 20 over and 50 over formats. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will host the 2027 Asia Cup event in the fifty-over format. 

It is to be noted that India was not able to play the host of the event for 35 years. The last time the series was hosted in India was in 1990. Bangladesh on the other hand hosted the tournament last in 2016 which was won by India in the 20-over format. 

Asia Cup 2023 was originally slated to be hosted by Pakistan. Due to the reluctance of BCCI to tour across the border, the tournament was played in a hybrid model. India won the tournament by beating Sri Lanka in the finals to stake claim to their 8th title. 

Next two hosts for Men’s Asia Cup set 

Times of India carried a report which stated that India is set to host the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 tournament. An Asian Cricket Council document accessed by the newspaper read “The details, including not limited to the schedules, dates, years, format, and/or venues, regarding the ACC tournaments are tentative and may be subject to change anytime at the absolute discretion of ACC and without any liability to ACC”

As far as the next edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is concerned, The event is set to be hosted in 2026. On Sunday, Sri Lanka won their first title by beating 7-time winners India in a one-sided final by 8 wickets. 

Harmanpreet Kaur was left heartbroken after the loss. Speaking to the media the veteran skipper said, “We are looking to improve in some areas. We will definitely work hard and remember this day. They have played such good cricket for so long and they played good cricket throughout this tournament.”

The Indian skipper also said, “We played good cricket throughout the tournament and, no doubt, we made a lot of fumbles today and that cost us. It was a decent total, we were looking for breakthroughs in the powerplay but it didn't go according to plan and Sri Lanka batted really well."
