India's one of the greatest captains, Rohit Sharma, played another fantastic innings against Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. While India won the match by eight wickets, Rohit and Rishabh Pant smashed the Ireland bowling attack and finished the match in the 12th over. The pitch and the outfield of Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, played a huge role in the match.

The pitch clearly supported the pacers, while the outfield was comparatively slow. Despite all these factors, Rohit scored 52 runs off 37 balls, while Pant scored 36 runs off 26 balls and finished the match with a six. 1. Completed 4000 runs in T20I

As of this match, Rohit Sharma has reached 4000 runs in T20I after scoring 52 runs in the game against Ireland. After a brilliant performance, he passed Babar Azam's score of 4023 runs and is only 13 runs behind Virat Kohli's record for most runs (4038) in T20Is. 

2. Completed 1000 runs in T20I WC

He became the third player to complete 1000 in the T20 World Cups after Virat Kohli (1142 runs) and Mahela Jayawardene (1016 runs). He has played in all the editions of the T20 WCs, and in 40 matches, he has 1015 runs at an average of 36.25, along with 10 half-centuries. 

3. Completed 600 sixes in Intl cricket

Another record is attached to skipper Sharma's name as he has now completed 600 sixes in international cricket. Known for hitting long sixes, the Hit-man has hit 84 sixes in Tests, 323 in ODIs, and 193 in T20Is. After Chris Gayle, he is on the list with 553 sixes in international cricket.

4. Fastest to complete 4000 runs in terms of balls in T20I

He also became the fastest player to score 4000 runs, scoring in 2860 balls, while Kohli scored in 2900 balls. He has taken fewer balls than Kohli to get the record under his name. 

5. First Indian to smash 100 sixes in ICC limited over tournaments.

Rohit became the first Indian and second player overall to score 100 sixes in the ICC's limited over tournaments. He has scored 38 sixes in the T20 World Cups, 54 in the ODI World Cup, and 8 in the Champions Trophy. Moreover, only Chris Gayle is above him in the tally, and he finished his career with 127 sixes (63 in the T20 World Cup, 49 in the ODI World Cup, and 15 in the Champions Trophy).

6. Most wins as a captain for India in T20Is

With this win against Ireland, Rohit became India's most successful captain in T20Is. This was his 42nd win in the T20Is, and he has surpassed MS Dhoni's record of 41 wins in 72 matches as India's captain.
