Former India cricket star R. Ashwin has come up with a massive piece of advice to T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The 38-year-old also spoke about Sanju Samson after the duo had a terrible outing with the bat during the recent T20I series against England. India’s T20I skipper scored just 28 runs from five matches, while Samson scored 51 runs to endure a miserable time with the bat.

Speaking on his YouTube show, ‘Ash ki baat,’ the former India spinner said, “There is a Tamil film called Thillu Millu, where Rajinikanth plays two different people, one with a moustache and one without a moustache. That is how it feels watching Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav.”

Ashwin went on to add, “The problem though, however, is Suryakumar's batting. Of course, his captaincy has been really good in this series. His captaincy has been on point, too. But he can allow his batting some much-needed breathing space. Sanju Samson and SKY getting out to the same ball, same field, same shot, same mistake, same dismissal.”

Suryakumar Yadav urged to alter his batting approach

During the course of his YouTube show, Ashwin went on to add, “I can understand it happening in 1-2 games, but this is not uncanny anymore. Players should play with freedom, but our batters need to have better answers to the same question.”

The 38-year-old also said, “Suryakumar Yadav is a very experienced guy. One could say he was at the forefront of a change of guard of sorts. But it is time he changed his approach to his batting.” While addressing Sanju Samson, the former India spin ace said, “For Samson, the mind will be playing tricks. If there are many questions in your head, it gets difficult."

Both Samson and Suryakumar Yadav aren’t part of the ODI side that is set to play England or the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament. Yadav will head to Lahli to link up with his Mumbai teammates to take on Haryana in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals. Samson, on the other hand, will miss the tournament after suffering a broken finger during the final game in Mumbai.
