Punjab Kings (PBKS) were set 204 runs to win the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI). Prabhsimran Singh came out to bat with Priyansh Arya and got his innings going with a boundary off Trent Boult in the second ball of the opening over. The Kiwi left-arm seamer then had his revenge in the first ball of the third over of the PBKS’ innings.
Boult bowled a short ball and Singh went for the pull but wasn’t able to time the ball well. Reece Topley, playing his first game of the season, made good ground and settled under the ball to complete the catch. It was a huge wicket for MI, considering that Singh had been one of the best players for PBKS this year.

Earlier in the day, MI were asked to bat first and the five-time IPL winners ended with 203 runs on the board. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav scored 44 runs each while Jonny Bairstow scored a quick 38, which came off 24 balls. Naman Dhir’s 37 off 18 balls helped MI go past 200 on the board.
Josh Inglis begins on a bright note
Trent Boult gave away just six runs from his first over while Topley was hit for just seven as PBKS were 13 for no loss after two overs. Josh Inglis, who had played a match-winning knock against MI in Jaipur, came out to bat at number three. The Australian batter began his knock with two successive fours off Boult to put the wheels in motion.
Reece Topley was hit for 14 runs in his second over as PBKS batters began to attack MI’s bowlers. Arya hit the veteran English pacer for one four and one six as PBKS ended the fourth over at 35 for the loss of one wicket. Hardik Pandya then turned to Jasprit Bumrah, and the pacer was clobbered for 20 runs in his first over.
Inglis began the over with a boundary with a flick for four through the mid-wicket region. In the third ball of the same over, Inglis hit the pacer for a massive six over long-on and then ended the over with a four past the square leg region and an upper cut for six.
