Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scored the fastest fifty of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. On the first ball of the third over, Salt smashed Starc for a huge six over the mid-on region. On the next two balls, there were two more fours hit by Salt to score 14 runs from the first three balls of the over. The Aussie seamer then bowled a no ball, which was again hit for a four despite Tristan Stubbs getting a hand to it and the ball sped for four.

The resulting free hit saw Salt top-edge the ball over the wicketkeeper for a six as 25 runs came off the first four balls of the over. In the penultimate ball, Salt took a single to give Kohli the strike. The former RCB skipper made it 30 off the over when he hit Starc for a boundary to the fine leg region.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru off to brisk start

Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first as DC made one change with Faf du Plessis coming in for Sameer Rizvi. Mitchell Starc’s first over went for just seven runs, which included five wides. Axar then bowled the second over of the game and gave away 16 runs from the over.

The left-arm spinner saw Kohli play a streaky shot for a boundary. In the same over, Salt hit Patel for a huge six and followed it up with a four. RCB had raced to 23 for no loss after the end of two overs. The fast start saw RCB reach their team fifty at the end of three to put Delhi Capitals bowlers under pressure.

Phil Salt’s innings ended when he was run out on the fifth ball of the fourth over. The English batter played the ball towards cover and looked for a quick single. Kohli, though, sent the batter back as Salt slipped in the middle of the pitch and was run out for 37. His knock came off 17 balls with four boundaries and three sixes.
