England pacer Jofra Archer dropped a sitter that left his teammates in shock during the Champions Trophy match against Australia. The incident happened in the final ball of the 38th over with Adil Rashid bowling to Alex Carey. The Australian bowler pulled a dragged-down delivery straight to Archer, who put down the catch.

At that stage, Carey was batting on 49 and took two runs to complete his fifty. It was a huge moment in the game because both Carey and Josh Inglis were putting the English bowlers to the sword. It was a crucial miss with the Australian batters well on their way to chasing down the 352-run target to win the game.

Earlier in the day, England batted first and scored 351/8 from their 50 overs. Ben Duckett led the batting charts with his knock of 165. This was the highest-ever individual score by a batter in the history of the Champions Trophy. Joe Root scored a half-century as the second wicket pair added 158 runs.

Australia on course for famous win in Lahore

Jofra Archer got the first wicket of the day when he dismissed Travis Head for just six runs. This was followed by Mark Wood getting the scalp of Steve Smith for five runs. Just like England in the first innings, Australia had lost two early wickets in the chase. Matthew Short and Marnus Labuschagne then counterattacked to add 95 runs for the third wicket in 91 balls.

Marnus Labuschagne was out after scoring 47 runs when he was caught by Jos Buttler off Rashid. Liam Livingstone then took a neat low catch to get rid of Matthew Short for 63 off 66 balls with nine fours and a six. The stand between Carey and Inglis then added 146 runs for the fifth wicket in 116 balls.

Brydon Carese gave England ray of hope when he had the wicket of Carey for 69 caught by Buttler in the 42nd over. By then the Aussies were well on their way to a famous win with Maxwell joining Inglis at the crease.
