India’s Test and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma recently opened up on the team’s recent success in the ICC tournaments. India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, and they recently clinched their third Champions Trophy title as well. Both these wins have come under the captaincy of Rohit.
Rohit Sharma reflected on the team's journey and recalled the heartbreaking loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. However, he highlighted India's dominant performances in recent ICC tournaments. The team remained unbeaten throughout the T20 World Cup 2024 and the 2025 Champions Trophy, while they lost just one game in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Rohit talked about the remarkable consistency, stating that winning 22 out of 23 games in ICC tournaments is an incredible achievement.
"Imagine if we had won the 2023 ODI World Cup final. To go undefeated in three ICC tournaments is crazy, never heard of. But I will take this: 22 wins in 23 games is unheard of. Again, when you see this in 22 wins out of 23 games, it looks very nice from the outside. But the team has gone through a lot of ups and downs. We had some really tough times as well, but that is when you get to celebrate. When you do things like this, you have to celebrate, and you deserve everything there.” Rohit said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.

We had a little bit of a low: Rohit Sharma
Rohit also acknowledged the players who featured in all three ICC tournaments under his leadership and said that they deserve respect. India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy despite a phenomenal run in the T20 World Cup. However, the setback did not affect their performance in the Champions Trophy, and they won the title comfortably.
"So I feel that all the people who played these three tournaments deserve respect. After the T20 World Cup 2024, we had a little bit of a low where we lost a home series and didn't play well in Australia. And then came the Champions Trophy. These nine months were a perfect example of how life is." Rohit said.
