As the most awaited T20 World Cup 2024 is just a month away, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared an update on the drop-in pitches of New York. A total of 10 pitches have arrived at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, and the installation of the pitches that Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions has been preparing in Florida since the end of last year has already started.

In the biennial tournament, four pitches will be used in the middle of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, and the other six will be laid at the neighbouring practice facilities. The transition was flourishing under the supervision of Head Curator Damian Hough.

"Everything is going to plan, they (the pitches) are in real good condition and all of our benchmarks and measures that we take along the way are exceeding expectations," said Damian Hough.

To move the pitches, 20 semi-trailer trucks were used from Florida to New York. It took almost a year to set up the pitches in New York, and finally, the work is about to end. In the tournament, eight games will be played in New York, along with the muck-awaited India vs Pakistan match in a 34,000-seat stadium.

'We hope we have got a good T20 pitch...' - Head Curator Damian Hough on the drop-in pitches

The head curator, Damian Hough, is quite happy with the work put in to make the drop-in pitches. New York is going to experience its first ICC tournament and all the preparations are going well. Moreover, Hough is excited about how things have worked out for good and hopes to have some good matches in the future.

"We hope we have got a good T20 pitch, that has good pace, good bounce and (provides) value for shots. You want the batters to be able to play shots all over the ground so that is our design and at the start our ambition was to produce pitches along those lines," said Hough.
