Pakistan Cricket Board had come up with a unique idea of sending the Champions Trophy 2025 trophy around the country for the people to take a glimpse of it. There were five cities included in the schedule, including POK. The hosting nation took to Twitter to announce the tour. However, POK is a political city which comes under India as well and the tour has the potential to turn into a communal riot. Keeping everything in mind, ICC denied the proposal sent by Pakistan.
"Get ready, Pakistan! The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour kicks off in Islamabad on 16 November, also visiting scenic travel destinations like Skardu, Murree, Hunza and Muzaffarabad. Catch a glimpse of the trophy which Sarfaraz Ahmed lifted in 2017 at The Oval, from 16-24 November," tweeted PCB.
As per reports, Jay Shah urged the ICC to take strict actions against PCB for pulling off such a stunt. An anonymous source said, "Jay Shah has raised the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging the body to take appropriate action in light of the BCCI’s concerns over territorial integrity and political interference in sports."
PCB unsatisfied with India not traveling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Considering the political conditions of both countries, BCCI has concluded that sending India to the neighbouring country wouldn't be a great decision. Their safety will be at stake, which is the most important thing for the Board.
However, this didn't seem to sit well with the PCB as they urged ICC to demand a written explanation behind BCCI's decision. According to reports, after several complaints from the hosting nation, the ICC has finally asked BCCI to send a written letter asking for an answer. Pakistan have the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025 and are quite ecstatic about an ICC event returning back to their country after a long time.
