India's upcoming series against Sri Lanka starts on July 27 with the 3-match T20I series. India's new captain Suryakumar Yadav is ready to take charge of the team and has a lot of plans for the future. While talking about his responsibilities, Surya said that he has learned from Rohit Sharma and will try to implement that in the coming days. SKY is a great batter and if he manages to hold the team together, he'll do wonders in the shortest format of the game.

"Not much has changed in this team. Only captain has changed. Rohit Sharma was more of a leader than a captain of this team and that is what I would like to emulate in this T20 team," said Suryakumar Yadav.

A month ago there was no mention of SKY as a captain since Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the team in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pandya was supposed to be the captain of the Indian team in T20Is but due to his injury, the new head coach, Gautam Gambhir and the management decided to make Suryakumar Yadav the captain. As per the management, SKY will bring stability to the team which is most important in the future.

Virat Kohli is still a leader in the team: Jasprit Bumrah

India's prime bowler Jasprit Bumrah has spoken in favour of Virat Kohli and praised his captaincy. Kohli was India's captain for a long time before Rohit Sharma took charge. There are many records under Kohli's name, both as a captain and as a player.

"Virat Kohli is still a leader in the team, he might not be the captain. Rohit Sharma makes youngsters feel there's no junior and seniors in the team. He doesn't let them think that this is not their team. He always makes them feel that they're a very important part of this team," said Jasprit Bumrah as quoted by Indian Express.
