Pakistani cricketers are known to give shocking statements during interviews. The latest to join the chorus is none other than Test player Sajid Khan, who was recently interviewed by the ARY TV channel. The 31-year-old was asked by the anchor, “If not a cricketer, what would you have been?” Without blinking an eyelid, Sajid replied, “I would have been a gangster if I weren't a cricketer.”

The host, in response, said, “You do carry this persona.” The 31-year-old is known for his aggressive celebrations after taking wickets. Sajid Khan played a key role for Pakistan in the 2-1 series win over England late last year. His partnership with left-arm spinner Noman Ali led the hosts to a come-from-behind series win at home.

So far, Sajid Khan has picked 59 wickets from 12 matches with a best of 8 for 42, which came against Bangladesh in 2021. The 31-year-old picked 19 wickets in four innings versus England. This was followed by 15 wickets in the two-match series at home to the West Indies earlier in the year.

Pakistan look to end New Zealand tour with a consolation win

New Zealand and Pakistan will clash in the final ODI match on Saturday, with the hosts having already sealed the series. Kiwis won the second ODI by 84 runs despite some later fightback from Pakistan’s middle and lower-middle order. It has been a tough tour for Pakistan, having lost the T20I series with a 4-1 margin and having lost the first two ODI games.

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali lashed out at the team on his YouTube channel after the ODI series loss. Ali said, “The Pakistan team has betrayed us. I don't know what era of cricket we are playing. Pakistan made a strong comeback after Mitchell's dismissal but poor captaincy. This is not a Pakistan team; that's all I can say."

The former Pakistan batter also said, “The Bradmans from one to six were in single digits apart from Tayyab Tahir. I feel that instead of playing the third match, Pakistan should say, 'You win, so let us go back to our home; we are homesick.' This is New Zealand's C team. I am surprised Naseem Shah didn't play. Pakistan shouldn't have scored 200-plus; we should have packed at 140."
