Hardik Pandya has been a clutch player for India for more than half a decade. The way he helps the team in crunch situations is commendable. However, he only prefers to play white-ball cricket as he has an injury-prone body, and playing Test cricket for five long days takes a toll on his physical health, which restricts him from taking part in the tournaments. While the entire country wants him to make a comeback, it's very unlikely for him to play Test cricket.

Nevertheless, he was recently seen practicing with the red ball in England, which hints towards his comeback in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and he might go on to play in the Ranji season first before deciding on a red-ball comeback for team India. Speaking about this, former India player Dinesh Karthik said he would be surprised if Hardik made his comeback in Test cricket.

"Wow, that would be really good. Especially someone with his skill set, so fast bowling and batting in Australia would be good, but to be very honest, I would be very surprised because I know his body; it’s not that easy for him to play Test cricket where he is today, so I again will be surprised," said Karthik on Cricbuzz.

You should be playing all the three formats: Gautam Gambhir

Head coach Gautam Gambhir also spoke about Hardik Pandya ahead of the BGT 2024. As per the former India player and current head coach, everybody should play in all the formats of the game since it's important for them. He doesn't believe in injury management and hence, wants everyone to play in all the formats.

During a chat with Star Sports, the former Indian opener said, "I am a very strong believer in one thing, that if you are good, you should be playing all the three formats. I have never been a big believer in injury management. You got injured, you go and recover. As simple as it gets."
