The 25-year-old Washington Sundar made his comeback in the Indian team after a hiatus of three years. In a recent interview, he revealed an incident where he was asked to give the headshots again for photographs. That was the moment he realized that he had been absent from the team for a long time. He also mentioned that he manifested his way back into the Indian Test team, which was emotional.
"Ya, it was in 2021 but it's been quite some time because I realized that when I was asked to come for headshots because the production didn't have any photographs of me, especially in whites. Just before going into the field was definitely pleasing. I definitely manifested. Probably, in the last couple of months, I manifested this to happen, especially in this particular series," said Washington Sundar.
Sundar made a terrific comeback in the 2nd Test match as he claimed seven wickets in the first innings. Moreover, he claimed a total of 10 wickets in the Test match, including the second innings. He dismissed all the best Kiwis' batters and became India's standout bowler. New Zealand made 259 runs in the first innings and started well in the second innings.
Not a lot of things can be put in words in life: Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar manifested his comeback into the Indian Test team and admitted it during the interview. Sundar talked about the unreal feeling he got after taking the seven-for, and since it was on his comeback, it became extra special. His performance was incredible, and it seems like he's a strong contender for the upcoming BGT series.
"I believed I would be getting a call, no matter when, as long as you get a call to join the Test squad for the Indian team, it's going to be special. When you think about something, when you wish for something, and when that eventually happens, it's an unreal feeling. I am really grateful to experience those emotions, to come back into the Test squad and a seven-fer, very, very special. Not a lot of things can be put in words in life and it was definitely one of them," added Washington Sundar.
