Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been at the centre of speculations about his potential retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Saturday, during the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) game, Dhoni’s parents were seen watching the game live in the stadium. Sakshi Dhoni was seen with daughter Ziva in the VIP box watching CSK lose to Delhi by 25 runs.

Dhoni, who is known to be very selective with his appearances on television or interviews, recently was part of a podcast. Raj Shamani had the former Indian cricket legend appearing on his podcast and the topic turned to Dhoni’s possible retirement. CSK’s former skipper came up with a sensational reply that left fans guessing.

MS Dhoni said, “I am still playing the IPL, one year at a time. I am 43; by the end of this IPL season, I will be 44 in July. So I have 10 months to decide whether I want to play one more year and it's not me deciding; it's my body, whether you can play or not.” In the last few games Dhoni has been called out by fans and a few experts over his diminishing prowess with the bat.

Stephen Fleming comments after CSK's latest loss

Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming addressed the media at the end of the game on Saturday. The former New Zealand skipper said he had no idea if Dhoni was going to announce his retirement. Fleming saw his team lose their third game in succession to be pushed to the bottom two spots in the table.

Speaking at the end of the game, Fleming said, “No, that’s not my role to put an end to it. I have no idea. I’m just enjoying working with him. He’s still going strong. I don’t even ask these days. You guys are the ones that ask.

Fleming also added, “The intent was there. When he went out, I think the ball started to grip a little bit more. We understood it was going to be good for the first half and then gradually get slower. They did it well. Vijay Shankar struggled to get the timings right through his innings. But that period from 12 to 16 overs was difficult for all. It was tough to watch and certainly tough to be out there.”
