Former India skipper and modern-day batting great Virat Kohli made a stunning return to his batting form with an amazing century against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 game. He scored an unbeaten 100 runs off 111 balls, with seven fours, winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award after helping India win by 6 wickets.
Meanwhile, the former legendary India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently came up with a big statement on Virat Kohli. Notably, Ashwin has been a long-term teammate with Virat Kohli in the Indian cricket team; both stars made their Test debuts for India almost around the same time.
Virat’s class has not gone anywhere – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin also lashed out at the experts who criticized Kohli for his failures during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 against Australia in Australia.
“I never had any doubt about Virat’s quality. When we were playing in Australia, people were criticizing that he was nicking the ball in the slips. People should understand that there was grass on the wicket and it was red ball cricket and he was nicking in Test match cricket. And there was so much talk over that. One gets out in the slips, one gets out clean bowled and one also is out as LBW. He was getting out in slips. Okay, What is there in that? I don’t read massively into it,” said Ravichandran Ashwin in a video on his YouTube channel.
“Virat’s class has not gone anywhere. I always said Virat Kohli’s engine room is ODI cricket. I am glad he is playing ODI cricket and this well could be his second coming. His confidence will only increase,” he added later.
Speaking of Kohli’s milestones, he also achieved the milestone of 14,000 ODI runs, joining the elite club alongside the former India legend Sachin Tendulkar and former Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara. Besides that, Kohli also became the quickest to reach 14,000 ODI runs, surpassing Tendulkar and Sangakkara who had 350 and 378 innings to achieve this milestone.
