Former West Indies player Sunil Narine gives a clear signal of not coming out of retirement ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The 35-year-old is in great form and people wanted him to play in the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA, but he refused to come out of retirement. He also mentioned that he is happy with the decision and will continue to play in the T20 leagues.

"I’m truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Narine said in a statement. I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies," said Sunil Narine on Instagram.

The West Indies skipper, Rovmann Powell wanted Narine to come out of his retirement. He spoke to him and tried convincing him but Narine was quite sure of his decision.

Sunil Narine's marvellous form in IPL 2024

Sunil Narine has turned into a full-time opener for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024. In the ongoing season, he is in red-hot form scoring  286 runs in 7 innings at a blistering strike rate of 176.54. This includes one half-century and a century in just seven matches. With the ball, he has taken nine wickets in seven matches at an economy of 7.10.

He played extremely well in all the matches and helped KKR win most of their matches. He is an asset for the team who can bat and bowl at the same time. That becomes an added advantage for the team as they might need to in the later stages of the game.
