'I feel there is a lot of hunger...' - Gautam Gambhir extends support to Ro-Ko during press conference ahead of BGT 2024

After a humiliating performance against New Zealand in the 3-match Test series, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are under constant criticism regarding their own performance. They haven't been able to pull off a great knock yet, which is concerning. During a recently held press conference, Gautam Gambhir was asked about Kohli and Rohit's forms and whether the management is worried about them. 

"I have no concerns for Virat & Rohit - I think they are incredibly tough men, they have achieved a lot - will continue to achieve a lot in future - the most important thing is that they work hard - they are still passionate, they still want to achieve lot more & that is important - I feel there is a lot of hunger, especially after the last series," said Gautam Gambhir. 

The senior players will have a major role to play in the upcoming series against Australia since they know the conditions better than everyone else. They are the best in the business and India have to win the games to reach the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals. So, a lot depends upon the series and one simple will ruin India's chances of qualifying for the finals.

He is one of the options if Rohit is not available: Gautam Gambhir

During the same press conference, Gautam Gambhir was asked about Rohit's availability for the first Test match against Australia to which he didn't answer much, dodging the question. However, he did confirm that if Rohit misses out, KL Rahul might replace him as an opener in the first Test match. 

"KL Rahul can bat in the top order, he can bat at 3, he can play at 6 - so you need a lot of talent to do all these jobs & he keeps in ODIs - imagine how many countries have players like KL and he is one of the options if Rohit is not available," said Gautam Gambhir.
