The new regulations only permit players' wives and kids to accompany them on overseas tours longer than 45 days for a maximum of two weeks. On shorter tours, family members can now only go with players for a week. Virat Kohli emphasized the value of family support during an interview with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit before the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL).

"It's very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to just come back to your family every time you have something intense, which happens on the outside. I don't think people have an understanding of what value it brings to a large extent. And I feel quite disappointed about that because it's like people who have no control over what's going on are kind of brought into conversations and put out at the forefront that, 'oh, maybe they need to be kept away',” Kohli said.

'I want to be able to be normal' - Virat Kohli on having family members on tour

During the tournament, Virat Kohli became the third player to reach 14000 runs landmark in ODI. With this milestone, he thinks that the presence of families on tours is a blessing for players and it helps them to know the responsibility of the game. "If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? You'll be like, yes. I don't want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life,” Kohli added.

During the recently ended ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Anushka Sharma, wife of Virat Kohli was seen supporting Virat from the stands. After winning the final match against New Zealand Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared some wholesome moments which got viral on social media. Meanwhile, current ODI captain Rohit Sharma was spotted spending joyful time with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, and daughter Samaira.
