David Warner announced his retirement from Test cricket last year and has been playing in franchise leagues ever since. Right before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, Warner has opened the gates for Cricket Australia to reach out to him in case they need him in the series. The left-handed batter is ready to reverse his retirement if the team needs him, which is an extremely heartwarming gesture. His love and passion for the game is quite evident.
"I am always available, just got to pick up the phone. I am always dead serious. Let's be honest, the guys have played one red ball game since their last Test matches in February, so I've almost had the same preparation. Honestly, if they needed me for this series, I'm more than happy to play the next Shield game and go out there and play. I did retire for the right reasons to finish the game and I wanted to finish. My hand is up if they desperately need someone. I'm not going to shy away from that," said David Warner on Code Sports.
In the T20 World Cup 2024, Warner became the highest run-scorer for Australia in T20Is. His entire team was proud of him and how far he had come in his career. The best part about the player is that he still has the enthusiasm to play for his country.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 to start on November 22
One month later, India will be playing the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 in Australia. The series will be super fun and exciting as the players from both teams are pumped up. Also, the qualification for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals will be decided after the series since both teams are in the top two positions.
However, before the series, India will play a warm-up match against India A in Australia, where Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain. The India A team will be playing a 2-match warm-up game against Australia A.
