The upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024 is already trending due to various predictions made by former cricketers of both countries. The series will start on November 21 and falls under the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 cycle, making it extremely crucial since both teams are currently in the top two positions. India's former chief selector Chetan Sharma joined the predictions race and said, 'Hum unko bhagaynge unke hi ghar mein.'

During an interview, Chetan cited a lot of instances to prove why India has become a better team than Australia at present, considering their performance in the last decade. Australia haven't gotten a chance to lay their hands on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2014, which is embarrassing for the team. Hence, the Aussies are pumped, and skipper Pat Cummins has already said, 'Time to make amends.'

While the series will be competitive, Chetan said, "We are currently the No.1-ranked team in the world. We will not only will give them a tough fight but we will make them run in their own backyard (hum unko bhagaynge unke hi ghar mein). I have a lot of confidence in the players." India have a good record against Australia and will look to strengthen it in the upcoming series, while the hosts will look forward to breaking the trophy curse.

Previously, Australia used to take us lightly: Chetan Sharma

Australia was one of the strongest and scariest teams in Test history and had defeated India in the past. However, ever since Virat Kohli took over the Test captaincy, the tactics and the attitude of the Indian team changed towards Australia. Instead of getting scared, India started giving back to Australia, which is why winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy became difficult for the Kangaroo Nation. Chetan Sharma shed light on India's mentality and how it has recently changed.

"There was a time when we used to think about what would happen when we went to Australia. How will we perform? And for the last two tours, we went to Australia and beat them. Previously, Australia used to take us lightly but now they know they have to play out of their skins to beat India. We have built that reputation," added Chetan Sharma during an interview with Rev Sportz.
