Former India all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh came in support of captain Rohit Sharma during an interview with the Hindustan Times. Yuvraj slammed the critics for questioning Rohit's calibre even after he's proved himself to be one of the best captains.

"Rohit Sharma has won the T20 World Cup as captain, he was captain when India played the ODI World Cup final. He led MI (Mumbai Indians) to five IPL titles. The guy has stepped down from the last match and gave somebody else a chance. How many captains have done that in the past? Please tell me," said Yuvraj Singh during an interview with the Hindustan Times.

Despite everything, Rohit's form has taken a back seat, no matter how much the former players defend him. In the last 15 innings, he has amassed 164 runs at an average of around 11. He has just scored a single half-century in the matches, giving rise to the criticism. Undoubtedly, Rohit is a brilliant player and has given his best to the team but now that his form is not there, raising questions becomes the sole responsibility of the viewers. In the upcoming Champions Trophy, he'll be captaining the side and will also be hoping for better results.

He needs more time: Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh also sided with the head coach Gautam Gambhir as he is new to the game and needs some time to settle down. Gambhir did a good job in the T20 series against Sri Lanka, but post that, things have taken a U-turn for him and the Indian team in general. After losing against New Zealand and Australia, the BCCI will have an eye on the head coach and will be expecting some good results in the future.

"I always look at the team graph over a five-year period or three years. Gautam has just come into the system, he needs more time," added Yuvraj Singh.
