All the focus was on young Indian cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi during the ACC U19 Asia Cup match against Pakistan. The left-handed batter was out for just 1 run while chasing the 282-run target set by Pakistan. Suryavanshi played 9 balls before being dismissed by Ali Raza in the first ball of the 5th over.
The youngster was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1 Crore during the IPL Auction 2025 recently. Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently made headlines for scoring a quick-fire ton during the Under 19 Test against Australia in Chennai.
Young Mumbai opener Ayush Mhatre gave India a great start as he scored 20 runs from 14 balls. The 17-year-old hit five boundaries before he was dismissed by Abdul Subhan caught behind by Saad Baig.
Shahzaib Khan’s 159 helps Pakistan score 281
Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss and put Indian bowlers under the pump. Opening batters Usman Khan and Shahzaib Khan added 160 runs. India’s bowlers looked clueless with the bat as the two young Pakistani batters scored with ease against the pacers and spinners.
That stand was broken when Usman Khan was out for 60 off 94 balls with 6 hits to the fence. Ayush Mhatre gave India their first wicket as Usman Khan was caught by Nikhil Kumar. Mhatre struck again when he got the wicket of number three batter Haroon Rashid for 3 runs.
The star with the bat for Pakistan was Shahzaib Khan with 159 runs. His knock came off 147 balls with five boundaries and 10 huge sixes. Samarth Nagraj dismissed Shahzaib Khan in the final over when he was caught by Hardik Raj.
India’s best bowler was Samarth Nagraj who picked 3/45 from his overs which also included a maiden over. Ayush Mhatre picked wickets while Yudhajit Guha and Kiran Chormale picked one wicket apiece. Team India was given a target of 282 to win the game and get off to a great start in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 tournament.
