Former India player, Gautam Gambhir takes a dig at Sanju Samson as he is selected for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He has been included in the 15-member squad for the marquee event which is scheduled on June 2 in the US and the West Indies. Being an experienced player, Samson is expected to play well in the tournament if he gets into the team. Moreover, in the IPL 2024, he has scored 504 runs in 13 matches at an average of 56.

"You are not a newbie that you will wait any longer. You have tasted international cricket and you've done well in the IPL, and now you have the chance to play the World Cup. So, hopefully, Sanju shows the world what he is capable of at this stage. International cricket, that too in a stage like the World Cup, when you flourish, the whole world watches and takes note," said Gautam Gambhir as quoted by Sportskeeda.

However, his performance post the selection has dripped a bit which might be a matter of concern for India. Since Rajasthan Royals (RR) has qualified for the playoffs, it will be intriguing to see his performance along with all the players who are in the squad.

'This is the time we need to show character...' - Captain Sanju Samson after losing match against PBKS

After losing four matches in a trot, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson is quite hopeful that the boys will bounce back and perform well in the upcoming matches since the team has qualified for the playoffs. RR still has one last game to play which will decide whether they'll finish at the top 2 positions or not, since SRH too has one more game left. However, the type of performance they have portrayed in this entire season seems like they'll bounce back soon.

"Somebody needs to step up, we have so many match-winners in the team. This is the time we need to show character. We need to score more runs. We thought 160-170 would have been a good score. We are not used to playing on such wickets this season where 200-plus totals are getting scored easily," said Sanju Samson at the post-match presentation.
