India's newcomer Nitish Kumar Reddy has been the most consistent player so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He's the only player who has batted well and taken wickets in both games despite the results not going in India's favor. Reddy's growth has been quite inspirational. A few months ago, hardly any people knew him, but now, the entire country heaps praises of him for the heroics he has done.
Playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, Reddy was Australian captain Pat Cummins' teammate. After two games, when Cummins was asked about Reddy's growth, he addressed the player as 'adaptable.' Cummins said, "I've seen a fair bit of Nitish Kumar Reddy in the IPL. He's a really good player, quite adaptable. He's played some awesome ramp shots, pull shots and drives."
Reddy has been very unlucky in the tour, as he has been dismissed in the 40s multiple times. It seems like the 40s are the new nervous 90s for the player. He has been brilliant in the middle order, giving the much-needed runs when the batting attack has mostly collapsed. The plus point about Reddy's batting is the confidence and courage to hit unorthodox shots at the best bowlers in the world. This proves that he is ready to play for India for a really long time.
India can do whatever they want: Pat Cummins
Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, stood up for his teammates after the Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj incident took place. He mentioned the importance of the series and how players are always under pressure due to the huge crowd around them. Cummins highlighted that Head is the team's vice-captain and has the guts to step up for himself.
"India can do whatever they want, I'm more worried about my boys. BGT is heated, it's a big series. There's been packed crowds all day so there's a lot riding on it. Travis is vice-captain of the team. He's a big boy, he can talk for himself," said Cummins.
