The pacer bowler of India, Akash Deep, recently had the opportunity to get a signed bat from Virat Kohli during the Bangladesh series. In a recent interview, Akash opened up about his encounter with Kohli and mentioned that he didn't go and ask the legend for his bat; instead, he came up to the fast bowler and offered to give his bat. The bowler performed well in the first innings scoring 17 runs off 30 balls after which he received the bat from Kohli.

"Virat bhaiya himself gave me the bat. He must have observed something about my batting. I didn't ask for it, he came to me and asked, 'Bat chaiye kya tujhe?' Who wouldn’t want a bat from Virat bhaiya?" said Akash Deep.

Akash Deep's performance was quite brilliant in the 1st Test match, where he took two back-to-back wickets in the first innings. India won the game quite comfortably with 280 runs, with a target of 515. Bangladesh skipper Shanto tried to take the match as deep as he could, but the rest of the players didn't support him from the other end, which led to their defeat.

After whitewashing Pakistan in their homeland, Bangladesh hoped to do something like that in India as well. However, they faced Ashwin and Jadeja in the first game and in Chennai, which is the home ground of these two all-rounders. The century by Ashwin and 86 runs by Jadeja in the first innings made the difference, which Bangladesh didn't wish for.

India retains their 1st position in the WTC points table

The World Test Championship (WTC) 2024 points table was updated after Sri Lanka's historic win against New Zealand at Galle. After the win, Sri Lanka moved to the third position, moving New Zealand down. The points table didn't change for India and Australia, who retained their 1st and 2nd position respectively. India's win against Bangladesh was a major factor behind this, as they won the game by 280 runs.

Moreover, Australia have won eight out of 12 matches, due to which they retained their 2nd position in the points table. The most important series will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, as the winner of the series will qualify for the WTC finals scheduled in June 2025 in London.
