Rohit Sharma has registered yet another flop show against New Zealand in the 2nd Test match. He failed to perform when his team needed it the most, as India had to chase 359 runs to win the game and level the series. Now that the skipper and the most experienced player in the side walked back to the pavilion for just eight runs, the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the youngsters.

New Zealand showed great intent with the bat as they gave India a mammoth total to chase. On such a tricky pitch, chasing 359 runs wouldn't be easy at all. Captain Tom Latham scored 86 runs off 133 balls, helping the Blackcaps form a strong foundation from the start of the second innings. Moreover, India's struggle against spin was quite evident in the first innings, and the Kiwis will take full advantage of the situation in the second innings. They wouldn't let the batters settle down.

Until now, Yashasvi Jaiswal has maintained his aggressive batting, and Gill has been anchoring the innings. As of lunch, India managed to score 81 runs, with Jaiswal batting on 46 runs. To win the game, India needs to build a magnificent partnership of 150+ runs by the top-order batters.

Rohit Sharma's form looks concerning for India ahead of BGT 2024

While the most important World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals are approaching sooner than ever, India have quite a lot of things to do, starting with proper practice sessions for the batters. In the ongoing NZ series, the batters have failed massively in both Tests, raising a sign of tension for the management. Moreover, captain Rohit Sharma's form is a great concern for India since he hasn't scored in most of the games.

In two matches, he has registered a single half-century and is dismissed cheaply in all the other innings. Rohit has to take the lead and start performing before it's too late for India
